Middle School 78 Summer Reading DirectionsSummer Reading Log 2015Letter of introduction English 7-8 Syllabus

bpyles@pcalions.org

Greetings and welcome to English 7/8!  I am looking forward to another good year with my middle school students.  This year we will continue our study of grammar, literature, writing, and vocabulary/spelling as we review and add new information.  We will take Excursions into Literature as we read a variety of short stories and poem with some nonfiction works, some novels, and a drama or two.  We will continue our study of Latin and Greek roots and review spelling rules in order to better present our ideas to others.

All the elements of English involve words. Whether we think them, read them, write them, or speak them aloud, words have power.  For that reason, it is important to choose our words correctly and wisely.  Our task this year will be to learn ways in which we can do that.

Our class verse for the 2016-2017 school year is Psalm 19:14: “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my Strength and my Redeemer.”

For your information, I have attached a letter of introduction and a class syllabus to this page. Please visit my Middle School Bible page to learn more about that class.

If you have any questions – now or throughout the school year – please contact me at the above email address.

Blessings,

Mrs. Pyles

One more thing:  Remember that summer reading logs and projects are due on the first day of school, Monday, August 29!  You will find the directions and reading log documents above.
