June 2017

This past year has been a blessing to me as our class studied the story of the Old Testament.  Some major lessons covered include the following:

  • Creation, Fall, Redemption – these three words provide a short but comprehensive outline of the Bible, and we are living in the period of Redemption!
  • God is the hero of the Old Testament.  Everything He does is to glorify Himself.
  • God is in control!  His providence and sovereignty are evidenced throughout the OT and in our lives today.
  • God uses fallible people.  Not one of us is good in our own right, but God can still use us to accomplish His purposes.
  • Studying God’s Word and keeping it in our hearts will help us to honor and obey God.

Of course, there is so much more that we studied and either learned or reviewed over the past nine months.  As you enjoy your summer, don’t forget the truth of God’s Word. The promise God made to Adam and Eve in Genesis 3:15 was kept when Christ died on the cross, was buried, and rose again on the third day!  Many of the men and women of the Old Testament faithfully anticipated that world-changing event; you and I can read about the reality of it in Scripture.  My prayer for each of you this summer is that you continue your study of God’s Word this summer and draw closer to the One Who came that you might live!

In the Service of the King,

Mrs. Barbara Pyles
